Oil painting on canvas (24in by 20in)

An impressionist work, taking inspiration from Monet, especially his work Camille on Her Deathbed, and Picasso's Blue period to create an empty and vacuous environment to resonate depression. The piece is primarily about long distance and how strenuous it proves, however there is a myriad of meanings layered within the work.

I also decided to keep the work more minimal than my original concept. This was due to the raw emotion at play from the colours and brushstrokes in the work, that spoke as better metaphors than the material metaphors I could have inserted into the enviroment.
